…a little something about the Jejune Institute by participating in a free induction workshop.
I can’t really tell you what happened (partly because it’d ruin the fun for you if you did it and partly because I don’t really know how to explain the point of it all), but check out these links for more info:

…that my seventh grade Social Studies teacher would probably be extremely surprised to know that I am a tour guide now, considering how awful my first attempt at public speaking was in her class.
I’m glad I applied for CATs and grateful for my experiences in the program, especially being able to bond more with my mentor and to pick up a mentee. :]

…”we pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not to be cheaply won, but exact their dues of work and self-denial, anxiety and discouragement.”
Ain’t that the truth. Written by L.M. Montgomery, author of one of my favorite series ever, Anne of Green Gables.

…that perhaps I am so worried about PPIA because I’ve never worked this hard for anything else in my life. Not for AP exams. Not for the SATs (although I worked pretty damn hard for those). Not for college apps.
34 days.
In the meantime, I really should be applying to other things, but I just don’t have the heart to.

…that even with the wrong type of chocolate, not enough butter, and no measuring spoons (because I LEFT THEM AT SCHOOL), you can still make really good Kahlua fudge brownies.
The recipe (partially) called for: 1/3 cup butter 3 oz unsweetened chocolate 2 cups sugar
What I had lying around/what I put in was: Whatever butter was left on the butter tray (which was less than half the butter...

I want to go shopping, but that would require that I change out of my PJs for the first time in like… 3 days. Excuse: I’m sick and feeling crappy. Also, it’s Winterbreak, y’all!
It would also mean I’d be doing something other than sit in bed under my covers, watching romantic comedy after romantic comedy.

…that one of life’s greatest pleasures is waking up at 1:30 p.m. to the sound of pouring rain on Christmas and then to spend the entire day in bed watching movies, even if a sore throat indicates you are getting sick for the first time since August.

…that although kids are a handful and smelly and time-consuming, they are Such a joy.
Also I changed diapers 3 times today, and I am definitely becoming more adept at it. This is Solomon.
And this is Solomon’s baby brother, Judah.
I baby-sit Judah every week at school, when his mom [a Ph.D. student in the Social Welfare school] comes to campus and needs a few hours to herself. I...

some days i make it through
I miss you (still)
but only when I see you.
How ironic.
I think having you there, very solidly present, makes it harder for me to forget and push things away. Especially today, when I left the meeting room hurriedly, not daring to show too much, not knowing if you would care.

…a lot about Alcatraz, considering it was my first ever visit there when I have lived in San Francisco for 17 years.
For example -it hasn’t been used as a prison since 1963, when the last inmates left the island due to deteriorating buildings and high operating costs. -some of the correctional officers and their families actually lived on the island -36 prisoners have attempted to...

…that I will never live the kind of life that the people my mom housecleans for lead.
I made some easy money today by hanging up coats at a Christmas party in a swanky apartment atop Russian Hill. The various brands I saw on the coat rack included: Prada Armani Chanel Ralph Lauren Brooks Brothers
If I sold all 30-35 coats for their in-store prices, I could probably make enough to pay for...
